A Bucket List of Amazing Places in Northern Bundelkhand

Just before the lockdown started in March I completed a dream trip through Bundelkhand. This historical region borders the present states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in India.

Bundelkhand is famous as a land full of fairy-tales from the past.

As you travel through this vast expanse in the Indian heartland, at every mile you can hear interesting stories of the kings and queens of the region from the medieval period that are full of drama, passion, love, valor, treachery, and bravery.

The Bundelkhand region has a rich legacy and a colorful history.

1. Bateshwar Group of Temples

I started from Delhi by road and the first stop on the circuit was the Bateshwar Group of Temples.

Read my in-depth coverage of this place in this article.

2. Garhi Padavali

Adjacent to the Bateshwar Temple is Garhi Padavali which is just a Nand Mandap with mesmerizingly beautiful carvings.

See some amazing pictures and a list of the stories carved in stone in this article.

3. Ekattarso Mahadev Temple

Next on the stop was this temple also called the Chausath Yogini temple atop a hillock that gives a picturesque view of the Bundelkhand region.

Read interesting facts and travel tips for this place in this article.

4. Kakanmath temple

The final destination in the Northern Bundelkhand region is the earthquake-proof temple of Kakanmath which is both magnificent and awe-inspiring.

Read the story and marvel at the architecture of this ancient monument.

Thank you @vijayparadkar for your lovely comments I am glad you like the places and the article.

You should definitely visit these places since we think they are far off from Maharashtra but in fact, they are very close given the very good road condition.
