Earlier in December my two siblings and I finally had time off work simultaneously. The three of us live in different cities around the UK and find it difficult to meet each other often due to clashing schedules. We decided to meet in a town we have never been to before, and this town was Hastings. Once we all got there we realised we are in a coastal town in the middle of December and it is freezing and windy. But that didn’t ruin it for us, if anything it made us rather nostalgic as we all grew up in a coastal town and used to always play around the beach on our days off school, we took it for granted then.
After playing around the beach like a bunch of kids around the beach we got peckish and decided to visit ‘Half Man Half Burger’ which was just across the street from the beach. If you’re a fan of local produce for your meals, then this is the place for you. From the meat to the ale they provide is all sourced locally and boy is it tasty.
We had desserts and a few drinks after and decided to rest for the night as we were all pretty tired from travelling. The next day, we wanted to check out the ‘Old Town’, and that place is full of gems if you’re into local small businesses that sell anything from antiques to cakes.
Once we went all around the Old Town, we decided to go up the West Hill that overlooks the city. It was very windy and difficult to get up the hill on foot, there was also a lift but for some reason we decided not to take it. The hike up was worth it as the views and scenery around the hill and what remains of Hastings Castle was breathtaking.
