A bit about myself

Hi Googlers,

My name is Jeroen and I live in the Netherlands. I’m 21 years old and I study politics in The Hague.

Ever since I bought a smartphone, I have Google Maps installed on it. I use it daily to check my route, find new places to go and check out the best restaurants in the area. I always appreciate it when people reviewed a place. This helps me chose where to go. By using this it seems fair to do something back. So that’s why I write reviews myself. Bonus point: I like to write reviews! Doesn’t matter if the place is good or bad, if they are really trying to do all they can for you in the bar/restaurant they definitely deserve this credit on Google Maps. At the same time, if they mess it up, they can learn from it and hopefully make their place better for new customers.

I especially like to help owners by adding the first review. This is valuable for them to attract new persons. By adding important information (like food quality, interior cleanliness, friendliness of the staff) it can attract people who are looking for this place but they aren’t sure if it’s okay.

Fortunately nowadays a lot of places in the US and Western Europe are reviewed extensively. But I like to travel to Eastern European countries where lots of places and business can benefit from new reviews. I often find places to be reviewed more after I posted one of the first reviews, which makes me proud!

I hope to be selected to attend the Local Guides Connect this year in the Bay Area. So that I can meet Local Guides from around the world and learn about their experiences. Which will help me make better reviews on Google Maps.

Sincerely,

Jeroen
