As the title says, the google local guide program is a big opportunity to share awesome places, knowledge and experiences. I usually post reviews from places that I have visited but also I try to add new places as much as possible.
I add places that aren’t yet on google maps, places that need visibility. I add small stores, restaurants and shops, in this way I help the owners, mainly because I am an customer and I like their place, by doing that I also help people to find the place, people who need a service or product and don’t know where to find it.
In mexico is common to see poorly related streets and buildings, there are streets blocked with rocks or abandoned cars, streets so narrow that is impossible to access with a car, restaurants or shops that are on the basement of a big building, in that places the street view service isn’t available and the people doesn’t know what is in there. I add a lot of places and photos to improve google maps, places that are accessible only on foot. It is rewarding to help in that way.
Sometimes i could be consider a bad customer but when a write a review I try to help futures customers, I try to describe what to expect i don’t only post the nicest pictures, I try to post real pictures and real experiences.
I also use google maps as a big opportunity to share my hometown, I live in Mexico city but I was born on a small village in Puebla called San Vicente Coyotepec and i love it. When you search on google “coyotepec” only appear the place as a little point in the map but is more than that and I want the world to know it. I have added the churches, schools, the library and other important places. I also added some photos about the life in there, we work as farmers but also we have interesting traditions like the day of dead on november 2nd, we make great parties on september 15th or december 25th, everything on a traditional way, on a real mexican style. San Vicente Coyotepec is a very interesting place that you can visit even as a tourist even though it is not considered a tourist place (there are no hotels). Coyotepec is not only a little point on the map. I want you to know about it and i hope google maps help me on that goal.
