A Banh Mi from Vietnam appears on Google Doodle today

I am really surprised, glad and proud to see a Banh Mi appears on Google Doodle today as a Spotlight.

You know, my boss who is Japanese eats Banh Mi everyday from the first day he has worked in Vietnam as an expat. He said: I love it so much.

Because it appears on Google Doodle and because I am a Local Guide, I think I should post something about it in detail here.

My friends all over the world, what you should know about Banh Mi includes:

  1. It is a kind of bread which was introduced to VN in the 19th century (1950s).

  2. Google celebrates Banh Mi on the ninth anniversary of it being admitted into the Oxford English Dictionary.

  3. In these decades, Banh Mi has spread to markets and restaurants around the world.

  4. Please look at Google Doodle today, it shows us how to make a typical Banh Mi.

For my side, I love it from my heart and I think you will love it too after trying at the first time.

Have you ever tried Banh Mi? Please let me know and share your experience here.

Thanks all.

Have a nice day.

Ah the inimitable Vietnamese Roast Pork Roll - Banh Mi. I love them and its one of the things I miss the most about being cooped up at home during Covid-19. Soon I will get out and get another one :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for sharing @Kian1510

The coronavirus is speading all over the world and because of this virus, I am feeling we are living in the same planet. Do you feel same as mine?

Thanks a ton for this kind of boosting me. You know, the first time is always a treasure for me.

Yes @Kian1510 in many ways while Covid-19 has us distanced from each other necessarily, remotely it is bringing people closer together.

You’re welcome and I hope you enjoy Connect.

I imagine you’ve taken some interesting photos of Banh Mi from time to time. Here are a few that I’ve enjoyed.

Hi @PaulPavlinovich

You are a great photographer. Banh Mi looks tasty and attractive through your photos… Thanks for this Paul.

Actually, i has never taken a picture for Banh Mi…   because it is my daily dish. But I will take some because of your recommendation.

You know, my camera is from Vivo phone,…so I feel shy in front of you Paul…

Hi @Kian1510 the Pixel phone really helps with food shots. The portrait mode helps you highlight the food by blurring the background nicely.

I nearly always photograph my food and post to the place on Maps as part of my review so others can get a visual of the food. Even though all my photos are Banh Mi they’re all quite different as each place puts their own spin on the concept.

No need to be shy, post your shot here on the post when you’ve got one.

Regards Paul

Hi @PaulPavlinovich ,

Thanks for your advice.

The portrait mode is my favorite mode but my phone doesn’t have. Sometime, I was crazy and insisted on this mode. I tried all distance for taking photos and with a specific ratio of distance, luckily, portrait mode will appear even the phone doesn’t have this mode.

“No need to be shy, post your shot here on the post when you’ve got one.” → I will do it soon.

Thanks Paul again…

OMG, Banh Mi’s are SO deserving of their own Google Doodle - I drool over the thought of a great Banh Mi. I actually love making them at home myself, although like @PaulPavlinovich , I prefer to try them when venturing out for restaurants (I share the same pain of being cooped up inside, now I want one too!). Here’s a photo of one that I tried near Denver, Colorado last year, which reminds me - I’m long overdue for one!

Hi @SP31

You are great!!! You could make it at home…hooray hooray.

Actually, I am surprised that Banh Mi can be famous like that! Many people can recognize it!

I just remembered I had some photos with Banh Mi. Here you are the pics.

You know, in Vietnam, Banh Mì is very popular and queen of street food which appears on all places from restaurants to street stalls.

I hope someday you can eat Banh Mi in Vietnam to know how different you have there…

All the best.

Hi @InaS

Thanks for your support. It was my mistake for exploring the “solution” function. Then, I intended to remove it but I didnt know how to do.

You just helped and put right for me.
