A, B or C - Which photo has the most views #03?

What’s this all about?
Well it’s simple really. In A or B - Which photo has the most views #01? a straight on storefront photo of an ALDI supermarket and another taken at an angle were presented and you were asked to vote on which of the two photos you thought had the most views and explain why. Both photos were taken at night and uploaded onto Maps at the same time.

Then as a follow on post, in A or B - Which photo has the most views #02? two photos were again presented and once again you were invited to vote on which of the two photos you thought had the most views and explain why. The two photos in this case were both straight on storefront photos and the main difference between the two being that Photo A was taken at night and Photo B was taken during the day.

Well in this final “twist” of this trilogy, we bring all 3 photos together and you are invited to vote on which of the three photos has the most views and explain your reasoning. If you’re game, in the second poll below, you might like to suggest the finishing order of the 3 photos, that is, which has the most, the second most and third most views  Here are the 3 photos:

Photo A is a night-time photo of the storefront of an ALDI supermarket. As you can see, this photo was taken from directly in front of the supermarket storefront.

Photo B: A night time photo of the storefront of an ALDI supermarket. As you can see, this photo was taken from the left hand side of the supermarket and at an angle to he storefront.

Photo C is a daytime photo of the storefront of the same ALDI supermarket and was also taken straight on the supermarket storefront.

So now it’s over to you.

Part 1 - Photo A, Photo B or Photo C - Which photo has the most views and in the comments below, explain why you think so!

A, B or C - Which photo has the most views?
  • Photo A has the most views
  • Photo B has the most views
  • Photo C has the most views
0 voters

Part 2 - Your nomination of the finishing order of the 3 photos in Poll #3?

In order of most views, what order do you think the photos in Poll #3 at the close of the Poll will be?
  • A, B, C
  • A, C, B
  • B, A, C
  • B, C, A
  • C, A, B
  • C, B, A
0 voters

If you didn’t vote in the previous two-photo votes then why don’t you have a go now before the voting closes. Here are the two earlier polls:

1 - A or B - Which photo has the most views #01 - straight on vs angle shot

2 - A or B - Which photo has the most views #02? - two straight on shots, one taken at night and the other during the day time.

@AdamGT
Es entwickelt sich zur unendlichen Geschichte.:joy:
Mir gefällt von den hier gezeigten Bilder, Bild B am besten.
Es zeigt die komplette Ladenfront und das gefällt mir gut.

Completely in resonance with @Annaelisa
B would be my choice.

And I have long advocated storefronts as they appear when we approach it from a distance, and not standing right in front of it.

B is more relatable for a person reaching there for the first time.

Among all of these B is lucrative in my eyes. The angle, clarity is the main secret i think.
thanks for interesting selection game (Vote).
thanks again @AdamGT

Haha the “twist” has finally been revealed @Annaelisa and I am sure that @Peadar will be pleased with this.

It will be interesting @Annaelisa because as you know Photo B was deliberately excluded from Poll #2 and I do hope that you voted in that poll

I understand what you are saying here @TusharSuradkar and agree that it makes sense however, while I know that you are a storefront photo guru, from your experience have you found that such photos trump photos taken straight on? Also, did you vote in the first 2 polls in this trilogy?

Thanks for jumping in @Soykot_azam. Did you vote in the earlier polls? I hope you did, especially poll #2?

Side angles give more details and story so it should be either B or A (night shot)
There is no doubt photo c has more details and looks superb.
Publish results fast its already been like a week since 2nd poll :eyes:
B > C > A Preference order

I’ve voted again.

  1. Photo C
  2. Photo A { B }
  3. Photo B { A }
I am feeling less confident each time I vote.

Same here @Rednewt74.

While I did vote for B, it is just a feeling. Last not least, because @AdamGT selected that for not to appear in the second vote

After all, I am still convinced, we cannot guess the number of votes. Not only because we don’t know the decision criteria to place a photo as cover or other prominent position, but also - and most importantly - that we don’t have a clue, whether and where it appears at pins other then the listing where we posted it.

I’m glad we agree whether we are right or wrong. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
After all this lengthy discussion about which photo is better which one is going to please the algorithm Etc I’ve come to a simple explanation of my approach to taking pictures for Google Maps.
I continue to take good quality photographs that I find interesting and pleasing, but with a nod towards how it might meet the criteria to be placed highly in the gallery.
For me it’s the fun of taking good photographs and videos with the bonus of getting views. And mentioning videos, God only knows how they analyze those for placing in the gallery. A number of Guides seen unhappy that videos are often put into the second place; with the implication that they are not justified to be there. But this really isn’t guaranteed and just as with photographs the videos’ quality may help it be placed in second place.

Not long now. Just one more March Leaderboard to post. Yay!

I agree, except that I don’t even try to meet the criteria. Instead I watch with interest which are doing well and which are not.

From what I see “often” means almost always. I assume the ratio behind are many people who cannot live without TV and prefer to watch moving pictures. Those users need to be attracted to the listings. Fine with me, but since I don’t enjoy watching videos, I won’t make any.

This has been a very thought provoking exercise
Is there any rhythm or rhyme to said AI thinking
We all were opinionated on @AdamGT post
But what did we learn about said AI
To influence it one way or the other
Not to repeat my favourite was " "
As for views I’ll go with the order posted
love to all

Now if love was an island

I’m sticking with my original choice of B here because that is the one I LIKE. I still suspect the algorithm thinks differently to me, and it will end as A, B, and C as presented above. The difficulty with voting the way the algorithm thinks is that I can’t justifiably explain it. So I guess there’s no penalty if I’m wrong, and no reward if I’m right.

@AdamGT I notice that fewer LGs have voted in each round so far, so maybe it’s time to close this up and not add a fourth round, or keep the suspense up any longer.

One reward I see is that from all this and the in-depth discussion we’ve had, we might learn something!

Oh I agree. While I always planned for this trilogy, I definitely never planned or intend to add a 4th poll. My plan is to post the last March Leaderboard when I get home later today and then ASAP thereafter, show the results of the 3 polls. I might however add a summary of the voting with comment after this. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the sharing of views and the in-depth discussion. Thank you all.

I’m starting to get passionate about looking at the photographs and answering, almost as if it were a fun game proposed (and after all it is, a game) by the inexhaustible source of inspiration that is @Adam.

As I have already done in the past few days, also in this case, faced with the three choices I tried to make up my own mind, then I tried to question the computer sibyl (Gemini), putting to good use the prompt engineering techniques learned in the past weeks.
I must say that in this case my aesthetic choice would probably have been different from the one suggested, but the reasons proposed by Gemini are so clear and incontrovertible that in the end I converted to the proposed solution, also because the question was “which of the three photos received the most views”, and not which was the most aesthetically pleasing.

Based on principles of visibility and usefulness for the user on Google Maps, the best choice is photograph C (daytime photo of the supermarket window, front view).

The reasons given are:

  1. Daylight offers superior clarity and visibility compared to nighttime photos. This is essential for showing important details such as the entrance, windows and the general appearance of the store.

  2. A front-facing photo provides a clear and direct view of the business, making it easier for users to identify the location.

  3. Daytime photography tends to be more representative of the appearance of the store during opening hours, which are when most users are interested.

  4. User convenience: Google Maps users often look for practical information, such as how the store looks during the day, to help them orient themselves and decide whether to visit.

  5. Visibility: Daytime photos tend to be clearer and more detailed, making them more likely to be noticed and clicked by users.

  6. Representativeness: A daytime photo provides a more realistic and accurate view of the business, helping users get a clear idea of the location.

In conclusion, photo C, with its daylight clarity and frontal view, has the potential to generate the most views and provide the most value to Google Maps users.

Warm greetings to everyone from Rome, Italy.

Hi @AT_Rome
now that we got 3 to choose from,
B was always my choice as best,
I think @AdamGT is sleeping now,
It would be interesting to see in
the votes did anyone jump ship,
surly he has this info,
A was the first to hit the finish line
in the comments
But B is making a strong comeback.
Many moons ago I was in Rome
when I was a teenager so didn’t
appreciate the place as I would
