A few days ago, I felt incredibly proud and a little nostalgic, Google Maps sent me an e-mail to celebrating my 9-year journey as a contributor, and it truly made my day happy.
Thanks for 9 years of contributing on Google Maps!
Congratulations on reaching such an incredible milestone. Every bit of knowledge you’ve shared has made Google Maps grow into an even bigger, more helpful place for the community.
This message reminded me how a small step, adding a missing place or writing a short review, can turn into something that helps thousands. Over the years, my contributions have included:
Adding and editing locations
Uploading photos to represent places better
Writing honest and detailed reviews
Fixing incorrect info to help people make better decisions
Honestly, it brought back a wave of memories. It all started out of curiosity and the simple intention to help people find places easily. I never imagined this journey would continue for 9 wonderful years, with thousands of contributions.
Each contribution was small, but together they’ve helped improve the experience for so many people, and that’s something I’m truly proud of.
I’m Atik from Bangladesh, and I work in the media and creative content agency. Beyond my profession, I love exploring new places and helping others with real, accurate information, which naturally drew me to Google Maps and the Local Guides program.
It’s not just earning about points or badges, it’s about real impact. About helping someone find the right hospital, a lost way of a hotel & restaurant, or even avoid a long detour. That’s the beauty of mapping.
To everyone at Google Maps and to all Local Guides, thank you! Happy Guiding
