669 children from saved from the horrors of WWII

Today I think of a great man, Nicholas Winton. 80 years ago today the first Czech Kindertransport train set off towards London from Prague’s main railway station. This journey saved 669 children from the horrors of WWII. Today, we should all honor Nicholas Winton, the man who made it possible. You can Google for more information and facts about this, just Google Search “Nicholas Winton”.

This statue can be found at Platform 1a, Prague Main Railway Station, Hlavní nádraží Statue of Sir Nicholas Winton

You’re welcome @Sorbe . It is good to acknowledge the good people have done in history. Everything everyone does changes history, hopefully for the good.

Fully agree with you @TheEagleEye ,

In Italy we had many examples of people like the one you mentioned. If you are interested in the topic related I will suggest you either to watch one movie from Spike Lee called “Miracle in S. Anna”, which is based on true facts happened in a little village in Tuscany during the Second World War period, or to check on Google the figure of Salvo D’Acquisto, that with his sacrifice saved the life of many people.

I am really glad you have enjoyed it @TheEagleEye ,

It was a really touching movie for me , as I have visited the place and had the chance to talk to people that lived and survived to that nightmare.

If one day you will have the chance to visit Tuscany I advised you to visit the village not only for his historic importance, but for the beauty that surrounds it.

Hi @Sorbe I’ve been to Tuscany several times but will be back. I will make sure I visit that town next time. My wife also enjoyed the movie and she doesn’t normally like that kind of movie. Thanks again.

@TheEagleEye Very interesting and painful story… Thanks for sharing it with us. We have heard so many stories that happened during the wars, and they are really too much. But when these stories are honored with a monument, a song, a book or even just with a flower or by remembering some times … all those stories become immortal and exceptional. Thanks
