After being locked down for a third time , and an overall lockdown of going on 12 months, it was great to get out and participate in a physical meet-up rather than a virtual one. In this regard, it was great to meet Paul for the first time and also to meet other like-minded people having the same common interest. Paul aptly described the meet-up in his recap as “a magical mystery art tour shooting a bit of Street and stuff as we go” and it certainly was all of that.
We started at the West Side Place Artcade, a place that I had fleetingly been to before but this meet-up up gave me the opportunity to see it in detail, and it was well worth it as we got to see the works from some renowned Street Artists
We also visited the giant mural by world renowned Street Artist Smug. This was another highlight moment for me because I had seen and photographed this fantastic mural in August the year before but because of COVID there just wasn’t anyone around that I could photograph against the mural to show its scale in a photograph. This meet-up provided the first opportunity for this and I posted about this here.
We stopped for coffee at Commonplace Coffee Brewers and the cappuccino and the croissant I had there were just perfect on a wet and cold Melbourne day. I took a photo and added it to Maps and it has been the feature photo since
It was pleasant strolling through Melbourne’s Flagstaff Gardens and then through Queen Victoria Market where we once again had the opportunity to support several small businesses. One in particular I had been to before but hadn’t yet posted my review and this meet-up prompted me to do so and here is my review.
This meetup was in two parts run by @PaulPavlinovich and @Terrycorb . Due to a family commitment I left at the end of Paul’s part however I have no doubt that Terry’s part would have been just as fun and full of exciting things to see. The table below summarizes my entries in this awesome 5-week challenge.
It certainly was asurreal day @PaulPavlinovich and aren’t we lucky to have been able to have the meet-up. Thanks for the heads up on the @MaxPlusFood one. I’ll keep an eye out for the post.
Yes it is nice to meet the people that you see and chat to more often than not online @Sophia_Cambodia . For family reasons I missed the opportunity to meet @PaulPavlinovich on another meet-up a couple of years back, well before the COVID pandemic hit so it was good to meet him and others earlier this year with that common interest. Besides, Paul cameos in my photo shoots and is in yet another that I will get around to posting soon :-).
I recall you mentioned that you’ve moved to a smaller place @Sophia_Cambodia so I can understand and am sorry to hear that you may not have the same opportunities for physical meet-ups as you might have in say PP but I think being closer to family in these difficult times is a great benefit. Of course we are all here for you “virtually” to fill any gaps and no doubt one day, soon I hope, the physical meet-ups will happen for you. Just keep doing what you are doing and obviously enjoy, it’s all good
Hello @AdamGT ! It’s a nice post. You very well detailed your meet up with one of Australia’s most prolific moderator here on Local Guides Connect: @PaulPavlinovich . I would like to attend a photowalk with him some day because I think I would learn a lot about his photography techniques. What was your favorite place that you visited in that meet up?
