At most restaurants, it’s possible to cobble together a vegetarian meal, but whether it’ll consist of a salad and perhaps a side dish is another question entirely. Luckily, vegetarian Local Guides are on the case. They’re making lists on Google Maps of restaurants in cities across the world to guide fellow vegetarians to great restaurants to go.

While touring Iceland, Local Guide Emily Goodin didn’t have very high hopes for finding good vegetarian cuisine, but she was pleasantly surprised and made this list of her favorite spots.
Local Guide, chef, and food blogger Andreia Machado’s list includes helpful tips and her favorite dishes to order at each spot.

The below is one of the featured places in the list: Dharma Realm Guan Yin Sagely Monastery canteen. Imagine eating in a Chinese Monastery canteen eating food served to Buddhist monks. It is such a great experience to be able to visit the monastery and at the same time partake of the monastery food. Prices are minimal with a large variety of condiments, the objective is to serve visitors good vegetarian food and not for profit. Free flow of Chinese tea and soup is provided with every meal.
Here’s are my Bangkok faves, they are vegan but truly even carnivores will be happy with any of them (I know this because I drag my omnivore family along to them):
In Japan, vegetarian restaurants are not a lot. Especially in the countryside, vegetarians are not easy to find them.

I started a project of trying to collect information about vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Japan a while back but it got put on hold with the birth of our son. Seeing your post has inspired me to try to get back on it, even if it’s just a little at a time.
