I am Samarjeet, from India. I grew up in my hometown Kolkata aka Calcutta, West Bengal, the “City of Joy”. I love traveling and had been to several cities and states over India like Gwalior, New Delhi, Gurugram. But Kolkata remains my favorite place, where my heart finds peace and serenity.
Currently I am staying in Gurgaon in due course of job hunting. And whenever I travel to a place, I like to start my journey with the local delicacies and finding my comfort food. So, started my search for finding good and authentic Bengali restaurants around the town. It took some time to finally pick out the restaurants serving delicious Bengali dishes around Sector 12-A of Gurgaon. Some of them are:
1. Bibo’s Kitchen
This place serves authentic and tasty Bengali dishes like aloo posto, fish curry (rohu, pabda, pomfret), daal (lentil soup) (Bengali style), chicken curry, mutton curry.
I wasn’t sure about the place as there were no reviews or photos of the place on g maps. So I took the initiative to find out more about the place. And as a result I found a great place. Shared my experience & I hope someone will find more accurate information because of my contributions.
2. 7teen Street
I found this gem by accident. One day I had a certain urge for some tasty Biryani, and to my luck I found great place.
I love the Chicken Dum Biryani, Mutton Dum Biryani, Chicken Drumsticks and recommend others to try too. The taste of these dishes reminded me of the taste of these same dishes back at my hometown Kolkata.
The reviews and rating on Google Maps was very helpful in finding this place. All thanks to the local guides around me.
3. Calcutta Food Street
I was taking a detour when I stumbled upon this place serving tasty, tip smacking Bengali Snacks. The restaurant owner is very very friendly and I had a great experience here. The best place around here for some Bengali Snacks and Sweets like Rosogolla.
4. Rolls Mania
This place is famous for it’s kati rolls (wraps). And I had to try it. The taste made me nostalgic. just like my mom makes at home.
My favourite of them all is the Double Egg Roll with extra hot green chilies. I am a spice head myself, so I like the spicy taste. Much recommended place for Kati Rolls around here.
They serve veg as well as non-veg rolls and wraps with several chillers like Blue Lagoon.
5. Paradise Biryani
It’s a famous place for Biryani Lovers. And I also fell in love with the biryani of this place. The taste is same as Kolkata style Biryani, just without the aloo (potato) and the egg. Super tasty flavored basmati rice and succulent chicken leg. A much recommended place for all Biryani lovers and foodies.
