#47 Shri Champakadhama Swamy Temple – Bannerghatta, Bengaluru

The Shri Champakadhama Swamy Temple is an ancient temple located on the beautiful Bannerghatta Hill near Bengaluru. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Champakadhama Swamy), the temple is surrounded by greenery, rocky formations, and offers a serene hilltop atmosphere.

The Bannerghatta Hill is home to three important temples:

  • Shri Champakadhama Swamy Temple – dedicated to Lord Vishnu
  • Shri Champakalakshmi Temple – dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi
  • Lord Narasimha Temple – dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his fierce form

Apart from these, there are also smaller shrines like Lord Hanuman and others around the hill.

The temple is believed to have been built during the 12th century Hoysala period, and its name is derived from the Champaka trees that grew abundantly in this area. Devotees believe that worship here brings prosperity, good health, and peace of mind.

Every day, regular sevas, poojas, and alankaras are performed. The temple also serves Annadanam (meals) to devotees daily, while on special occasions and festivals like Vaikunta Ekadashi and Brahmotsava, large numbers of devotees gather, and special prasadam such as Puliyogare, Pongal, Kesari, and Payasam is distributed.

Thank you :folded_hands: The Champakadhama Temple was first built by the Hoysalas in the 12th century and later enhanced by the Vijayanagara rulers. Its grand entrance truly reflects that heritage  @TusharSuradkar
