Meiji Jingu is a shrine built in 1920, dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. During the first three days of the new year, over 3 million people visit Meiji shrine. In 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the shrine will be celebrating its 100th anniversary!!
Walk along the path to the shrine

Many display of the various barrels of sake and wine. These may represent “Japanese Spirit and Western Knowledge” was adopted.
Chozuya: to rinse hands prior to praying
The area called “chozuya/chozusha” is equipped with a water-filled stone basin and a bamboo dipper so that visitors can purify and prepare themselves for their visit by washing their hands and rinsing their mouth.
Visit the main shrine
Two trees bound together with a sacred rope called “shimenawa”, these trees are representing a good match and married bliss.
It is good to pay your respects at the main shrine. And it is said that praying here can help with peace within and family, prosperity for your business.
