I was wondering if there was a place I can get in contact with google maps for a collaboration project. I ended up making a 3D model of my neighborhood and I’m looking to see if that can be used as an update or conjunction with their current system. I’m wanting my neighborhood to get more visibility due to the struggles they are facing during covid. We already had a few places shut down and it’s making me sad seeing this place struggle the way it is.
So if anyone has an email I can contact, of if someone who’s at google comes across this, I’d love to share the model, or at least the local photos used to build my photogrammetry model for a new higher resolution to be created.
I am sorry but I don’t think I understand what exactly you are asking about in your post. Could you please elaborate further?
As a reminder, Connect is a place for discussion between Local Guides - a global community of Google Maps members who like to contribute so that Google Maps information is more accurate and can help others. To learn more about each topic you can visit this post.

Yeah, just to elaborate, I am a photographer that makes 3D models using photogrammetry. I was wondering if there was a way to contribute a 3D model or a way to enhance Google Maps. We already see stuff in 3D with google earth with perspective view, I was just wanting to contribute a high resolution version.
It is WAS indeed possible to upload 3D models in Google Maps, THROUGH Cities in 3D is, a program different from Local Guides, as it belongs to Google Maps Content Providers.
3D IMAGERY ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED, AS YOU CAN READ IN MY NEXT REPLY.
There are specifications about the format of the files and the procedures, but I am sure that 3D data can be easily converted / saved in the appropriate format.
It seems this guide should be updated. It tells about adding less than 100 models to Sketchup 3D Wearhouse. Google doesn’t own Sketchup anymore, thus is there still any cooperation in this case?
SketchUp is no more owned by Google, but I was looking about the possibility to partner with Google.
However, checking the guide (Geo Data Upload Content Requirements , looking like now they do not accept anymore 3D imagery: We can accept your overhead imagery if it is top-down (we are not accepting oblique or 3D)
Sorry, @IA98105 , looks like 3D imagery are no longer accepted by Google Maps
Thanks @Amiran , I started to follow the possibility of a partnership with Google after the Italian earthquake of 2016.
One part of the country changed a lot, new villages and road were built in a few months, and the local authorities were not aware about the possibility of uploading GeoData in Maps. I remember, being a SketchUp user, that it was possible to upload 3D imagery, so I made a search, finding the submission form.
However, my bad, I didn’t read the updated specifications, @IA98105 before to post
I also was and am really passionate to do so and be more effective in some areas. So I also read some guidances before but it really needs time and hardworking to prepare good and accurate content for this program. Although definitely, I should do this, and I will
