Denver’s streets can be a bit confusing for biking, that’s why I’ve wrote this guide. All starting locations will start from Civic Center in Downtown Denver.Make sure to check out Denvers biking resources and maps. https://www.denvergov.org/content/denvergov/en/bicycling-in-denver/resources/bike-maps.html
- Riding to the Highlands Neighborhood (1.8 miles)
Starting from Civic center head directly north to the 15th st crossing, Using the cross walk cross Colfax Ave and join into the protected bike lane on 15th. Continue straight on 15th past Lawrence. At this point the protected bike lane will become a shared lane for about 5 blocks, stick to the right of the road. Once you reach Wewatta st crossing there will be a elevated shared-use sidewalk on your right that you will continue on straight along side 15th St for about 4 blocks where you will then re join the shared lane on 15th again. Crossing the South Platte river then up the hill over I-25 you will reach Central st right over the bridge. From here you can make a right on Central st or continue up one more block to make a right on Boulder St. At this point you have reached the Southern end of the Highlands Neighborhood.
- Riding to City Park (2.0 miles)
Starting from Civic center head directly north to the 15th St crossing, Using the cross walk cross Colfax Ave fallowed by a right turn on Cleveland Pl for one block till you reach the Broadway 16th intersection. Cross Broadway on your right onto E 16th ave and join the bike lane. Continue straight on E 16th Ave for about 1.5 miles till you reach City Park Esplanade where you will make a left turn. Continue straight for about a block and cross E 17th Ave into City Park.
- Riding to River North (RINO) Neighborhood (1.7 miles)
Starting from Civic center head directly north to the 15th st crossing, Using the cross walk cross Colfax Ave and join into the protected bike lane on 15th. Continue on 15th until you reach Lawrence St where you will make a right turn on to Lawrence St protected bike lane. Continue on Lawrence for 9 blocks until you cross Broadway St. Soon after crossing Broadway the protected bike lane will become a shared lane, but by this point you are less than a block from the southern most part by making a quick left on 25th fallowed directly by a right on Larimer St
Getting back
getting back is pretty straightforward as all the protected bike lanes have adjacent lanes going in the opposite direction. Coming from the highlands take 15th St till you reach Blake St, take a right and join 14th back to the capital. Coming from City Park, take E 16th back. Coming from RINO take Arapahoe st back till you reach 14th St
