Everyone has their motivating factors, pushing them to contribute to Google Maps and here are mine:
• Whether I travel, navigate the heavy traffic after work or get hike high up the mountains, Google Maps is my friend in all those occasions. And especially when hiking (and when I hike I go off the trails, where no one goes), it’s a warm feeling of safety, when you know that Google Maps can show your location and the way out at any point. Google Maps has my back, it helps me discover breathtaking places and I only feel great to be able to somehow return the favor by being a Local Guide.
• By being a Local Guide I help creating a social impact by making life easier for thousands of people including my own.
• I see Google Maps as an element of a Planetary Society (Type I civilization, Kardashev Scale), which is hopefully the kind of global community that we will evolve into. It is the tool of the future - mapping out planets, I feel happy having a contribution in such a cause.
