3 Ramens You Can't Resist Even in Summer

Sushi, Sashimi, Soba, Tonkatsu, Shabu Shabu, Takoyaki, and more! The great variety of dishes makes Japanese food worldwide popular and one of my favorite cuisines. And among all these Japanese delicacies, my no.1 can’t miss food is the absolute heartwarming noodle dish, Ramen!

Consisted of wheat noodles, a savory broth (mainly soy sauce, salt, miso, or pork bone bases) and toppings like sliced pork, nori seaweed, spring onions, bamboo shoots, soft-boiled eggs, and/or others, Ramen is quick to make, easy to eat, and flavorful to taste. Sounds a perfect bowl to grab, right? Here’re 3 ramen houses I had and found satisfying this summer.

  1. Citrus sea salt soup ramen at Soba Shinn & 柑橘

The signature dish for this place is citrus soup ramen. As shown in the below photo, the broth looks clear and tastes refreshing compared with the abovementioned 4 soup bases. This ramen house is very popular so better go early before the shop opens, and they have a 50 mins dining time limit.

  1. Chicken soup ramen at 重熙老麵

Wanna try one more different broth? This ramen house serves chicken soup ramen, which has a mild taste. They also provide shrimp oil and fried garlic for diners to add flavors.

  1. Dried ramen with scallion oil and barbecued pork at 食三麵屋

Feeling too hot to have soup ramen? Dried ramen could be an alternative, and it tastes as good as the soup one. Their well-seasoned grilled chicken wings are another spot-on.

Bonus! Barbecued pork rice with shrimp crisps at えびそば 一幻拉麵

Though it’s a ramen house, I like their barbecued pork rice better. What makes it special? They add crunchy shrimp floss on top of the rice, which is a big plus for both food texture and flavors.

Do you like ramen? What’s your favorite soup base flavor?

Hello @ChanneLing ,

Thank you for sharing these great photos with us, every single ramen looks very delicious!

First of all, I have always considered ramens to be very beautiful. Honestly, just by looking at them, I have the impression of staring at a masterpiece.

Personally, I love ramen and my favorite ones, till the moment, are the beef and the duck ramens. The first time ever I tasted a ramen was at an internationally famous brand called Wagamama. Have you ever tasted their ramens?

PS: This is the first time ever that I see a dried ramen!

Hi @ChanneLing ,

great shots, those dishes look like so good! Yes I do like ramen but I don’t have any specialized shop making it in my area, however I normally prefer the chicken one although I haven’t tried some of your variations  .

Thank you for sharing!

Hi @PaulPavlinovich ,

Thanks for your kind words!

Food is always the best, especially in a foodie’s eyes.

Hey @BorrisS ,

Thanks! I’m glad you like the photos!

I searched “Wagamama” and found that they have many restaurants, however, most are in Europe and there’s none in Asia, which is quite a pity. Where did you have it?

Beef and duck ramen! I think I’ve never tried the duck one. Most proteins I’ve had on ramen are either pork or chicken but duck should taste good too. Hope I can get to try it one day!

As for dried ramen, from my experience, not many ramen houses have it. Soup ramen is way more common (and popular) I think.

Ciao @LuigiZ ,

Thank you for the kind words!

I like chicken ramen too! It tastes lighter than the pork one. As for the broth, my favorite among 4 main flavors is miso (or salt, depends on the restaurant style) but I’m also open to all. :hugs: Actually, I just heard from a friend that there’s a blue color soup ramen shop in town and was thinking maybe I should go try it.

Thank you @ChanneLing . I had the ramens at Wagamama Sofia, and they were very delicious!

However, as the prices were a bit high, I’m not sure if this restaurant is still working or not.

Never tried the miso one, I should when I’m somewhere there is a good ramen restaurant. And now I’m curious about the blue color soup, let us know how it will when you have the chance to try it  .

Hi @ChanneLing ,

Kudos for writing this post! :ramen: Only by looking at the photos you captured, I can guess the dishes you tried are very delicious.

I have also tried different types of noodles and Ramen dish. Here is a photo of mine.

As for the soup base flavor, I usually like the medium spicy one. Even though I cannot eat lots of spices, adding some to the dish changes the taste of the noodles and like it a lot.
