3 Brunch Spots to Treat Yourself After A Long WFH Week

Time flies, it’s already the end of October and November is right around the corner. It’s so hard to believe that I’ve been working from home (WFH) for almost 8 months. Before this, I didn’t know that I’d miss my routine and workstation this much. I meant, there’re indeed tons of advantages of remote work, such as saving time and money for commute, having more sleep, getting to work wherever we’d like to, and more.

Yet, everything is two-sided. The cons of WFH, first, the workstation at the office is designed for work and is much more comfortable. Besides, face to face communication is much more efficient. What depressed me the most is the meals, especially breakfast. Ever since the WFH policy, my breakfast degraded from egg pancakes, rice balls, baozi, bread, sandwiches, burgers to cereal and yogurt. Cereal and yogurt are a good combination and I like it! But it’s hard to love a thing when you got to have it 5 days a week.

This makes my weekend food hunting days! Luckily, most businesses in Taipei are running normally and don’t get too much impact from the pandemic. So here are some brunch spots I’ve visited after a long working from home to heal my stomach and mood cuz we all know that good food, good mood!

  1. Eggs Benedict and avocado toast at Muko Brunch

Handmade potato silk pie with grilled diced beef, mushrooms, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce on top, what a combination! Want to try something lighter? Avocado toast is a can’t miss. The fried garlic spicy shrimps and salsa sauce also add a bit of chili and sour taste which light up the whole dish. The truffle seasoned mashed potato also impresses me, a true spot-on.

  1. Shakshuka and Tortilla de Patata at TOASTERiA Cafe

This place is a popular Mediterranean restaurant in town. Tomato sauce, poached eggs with spinach puree, toasted pine nuts, and housemade ricotta cheese make a perfect pot of Shakshuka. They even serve a side of hummus and pita bread. Or if you love egg dishes, Tortilla de Patata is another good choice. Spanish omelet with potatoes, bell peppers, spinaches, onions, and cheese, so filling, so satisfying!

  1. Signature brunch plate at 鹿境早午餐 Arrival Brunch & Cafe

Arrival brunch is famous for its brunch plate. They provide plates on diners’ own choices, yet, I was too lazy to do the combination so I chose the signature one with a grilled chicken chop, frittata (Italian omelet), salad, fruits, bread, panna cotta, and paid extra for a glass of mimosa to start the weekend!
