One of the tips given in the #LGCTM campaign (Local Guides Clean The Map) is to use external sources of information to find out where places/stores have closed. Earlier this week I came across an excellent example that shows this approach can also be used for places that will close soon: in the screenshot you see a press article that the chain Blokker will disappear in Belgium soon, as the stores were sold to a new owner. The article also mentions that all 123 stores will remain open, but get another name (Mega World), and will be selling a different type of products. This is announced to happen in the coming months.
Getting the Google Maps entries updated will probably not be the first priority of the new owner, so it might be up to local guides to remove the old Blokker POIs (5 points) and add new Mega World POIs (15 points) for all 123 locations. Those will obviously need new pictures, so - given the fact that there are 123 Blokker stores - there are at least 2500 points up for grabs for local guides living in or visiting Belgium.
To end on a poetic note:
Those points could easily be yours,
Unless I grab them first of course!
