There are no cash or material rewards associated with been a local guide. It’s a voluntary service. Although there are perks offered from time to time to “some” local guides. If you **Read here **it states clearly that the perks/gift is limited or no gift. Therefore please be happy that your contributions are helping map users. That’s a reward on it’s own, helping others make informed decisions.

I have had discounts or perks via google local guides before, but I normally just share to demonstrate locations.
Living in England means I didn’t always qualify for previous perks anyway.
