Its an outstanding thing that Tokyo fair is being organizing by Bangladeshi Community for the past 23 years. This year 24th Edition of Tokyo Baishakhi (Baishakh is the 1st month of the Bangla New Year) Fair was organized at Ikebukuro Nishi-Guchi park, Tokyo. This is the biggest festival of Bangladeshi organized at Japan. People dressed themself on sharee and panjabi, is a cultural attire. From 10:00 to 19:00 around 10,000 people gathered at venue.
Like the English year, the Bengali year is also running in 1432. We called it (নববর্ষ) ‘Nabobarsho’ in Bengali. This celebration and fair was initiated to welcome the Bengali New Year. The Mayor of Toshima City and Ambassador of Bangladesh inaugurated this fair every year.
The fair categorized in many stalls that symbolize the culture of Bangladesh. Bangladeshi delicacies, drinks, street food and art. Performers from different countries perform on stage. Its in the Global ring square of the park has giant live screen. There were so many stalls such as, Embassy support, remittance support, health check up booth, JIICA stall, dhaka club Japan.
The Bangladeshi street food and other delicacies, japanese sweet, mochi, flavoured drink It were available at various stalls.
The food stalls had so many staffs, live cooking stations, serving at the same time, thats why these section was overcrowded, long queued for ordering.
Fuchka (ফুচকা) is a famous street snacks at Bangladesh. The semolian puffed ball filled with white chickpeas and tamarind water tasted the blast of flavour.
Jilapi(জিলাপি) is a famous sweets made with dal batter with baking powder, and deep fried in round pattern, after then soaked in sugar syrup, it was just so good.
This is a skewer chicken kebab. Chicken was marinated with so many Spices and then grilled with oil.
This is Chotpoti (চটপটি), a thick broth of long time slow cooked white chickpeas, chaat masala, with egg and potato Served with coriander, slice onions, tamarind water, chilis and crushed fuchka.
For the big gathering there a place allocates for praying. This ia a great initiative.
Lead vocalist of Music bands 16 and defender touch were rock the statge as all the way came from Bangladesh. Japanese based Bangladeshi cultural groups were also performed.
For maintaining the cleanliness all the venue covered with this eco station for collecing all thrashes.
