24 hours in Lekki, Nigeria

Hi there

I want to tell you a story. It is the story of a little girl who wanted to see the world.
My name is Zainab Odekanmi. I am a Hospitality and Tourism Professional. In my spare time, I love travelling and being a Google Guide (I am currently a Level 8 Google Guide Yo!).

  • Travel from Ibadan to Lekki, Lagos

This is a story of how I spent 24 hours in Lekki, Lagos. I left my base in Ibadan around 4 pm on Saturday 22nd June 2019 to achieve a dream I have conceived in an Ecotourism lecture in 2014. Now the trip from Ibadan to Lekki was more than amazing. The weather was cool and no traffic. Thanks to Google Maps we got to our destination safely and just within the stipulated time of 2 hours 48 minutes. I stayed at a Hotel in Lekki Chevy View Estate. I chose this location mainly because Lekki Conservation Centre (LCC) was about 250 km away.

  • Silver Fox Entertainment Club

A trip to Lekki on a Saturday night couldn’t be complete without visiting a club right? My boyfriend and I together with a couple of friends went to Silver Fox Luxury Adult Entertainment Club. I loved the way the club is built; I love the interior decor more so, I loved the classy girls and boys that worked there more. Silver Fox Luxury Adult Entertainment Club has a no-pictures policy and it opens at 9 p.m. I was there till about 12 a.m. The club has ample security of Bouncers and Suit wearing gentlemen. The chairs we sat at first were for Champagne, Wine, Cognac and Rum Service with Cocktails not allowed. My friends and I moved our party to the High Chairs near the Bar where Cocktails were very much allowed. The view was the same if you ask me. There was no entrance fee but one could see that the creme de la creme of the society could come to the club. I had Mojito while my Friends had Long Island Iced Tea. We had so much fun. Each cocktail cost about N5000 so we had a total bill of about N 22,000 on cocktails. No sir, I did not have a lap dance. Exiting the club was as a result of tiredness, not boredom. Getting back to the hotel room to sleep was obviously with exhaustion.

  • Lekki Conservation Centre

We went to Lekki Conservation Centre after Check out on Sunday. I was glad there wasn’t any Gate Fee. Only a “Visitor’s Card” is given to the Driver upon entering the Centre. Lekki Conservation Centre is privately owned and had the longest Canopy Walk in Africa with about 5 stops.

The Conservation Centre is Swampy/Mangrove Ecosystem which is about the only area one can see this in South-Western Nigeria. The Canopy Walk was fun because I met a new friend named Kamara from Paris, France who was quite shy at the beginning of the trail but we all became good friends by the very end. We took a Group Photo at the Family Park.

At the Family Park, there were several tiny hurts where groups could cool down. I love the barbecue situation going on there and you could have coconut drinks while pretending you were in Jamaica. There was a Tilapia Fish Pond and a Koi Fish Pond. The Family Park also has several Life-Sized Board Games for Chess, Ludo and Draft.

As we were catching our fun at Family Park, I got a call from my day job asking me where my purse was. I let the caller know I had it with me but she asked me to check again. I realised I had lost it and an Indian Family Found my Purse as I lost it while taking photos. I hugged each of the family members to show my gratitude. A feature I loved outside the Canopy Walk was the Tree House. I met interesting people up thereafter climbing. It wasn’t as daring as the Tree House in Okomu National Park but you could the breeze was different at the top. The Treehouse had benches for people to sit and rest before descending back to where regular people reside. Many folks had written their names on the benches I was almost pained I didn’t have a Marker.

  • Atican Beach

The highlight of the trip was our visit to Atican Beach. I loved it mostly because it was quite surreal. This was my first time at the beach. I had looked forward to having the sand in my toes and having the water splash on my feet. It was amazing I tell you. I had a horse ride and it was long I had that.

The horse ride cost N1000 but you could take a photo on the horse for N500. The time I had that was 2014 at the Trans Amusement Park in Ibadan. The Atican beach’s gate fee was N1000 for each adult and payment was made at the drive-through provided at the Gate House. The Atican beach had meals like Asun, Seafood, Noodles and Spaghetti. The beach also had accommodation space available with spaces for beach football and beach volleyball games.

  • Golden Tulip Oniru

The trip couldn’t be complete without a visit to Golden Tulip Oniru, right? This is partly because of the fact I had always wanted to visit. The place is so very beautiful and I could live there. Golden Tulip Oniru has apartments and suites in Elegba Drive not far from Four Points by Sheraton. They have 32 rooms and it is tastefully furnished.

From Golden Tulip Oniru, we proceeded to Ibadan. The trip back was just as interesting as the first. There wasn’t much traffic and the darkness didn’t set in till about past 7 pm but by then I was in Ibadan already. Getting back to base was just the best I was a tourist and I loved it.
