2020 Cultural Festivals in Papua New Guinea

Hi Local Guides!

Its been awhile since my last post. But this post is for the global trotters who are looking for something exciting in 2020! The number of cultural festivals in Papua New Guinea (PNG) has increased with more provinces wanting to show case their culture and traditions.

Below list are events that will be taking place during the year. From the Highlands to the Islands, there is something for everyone.

  2. June** > Sel Kambang Festival (Kiunga, Western Province)
  3. July 8-12 > PNG National Mask & Warwagira Festival (Rabaul, East New Britain Province)
  4. Aug 5-7 > Sepik River Crocodile Festival (Wewak, East Sepik Province)
  5. Aug 7-9 > Enga Cultural Show (Wabag, Enga Province)
  6. Aug 15-16 > Hagen Cultural Show (Mt Hagen, Western Highlands Province)
  7. Sep** > Port Moresby Independence Festival (Port Moresby, National Capital)
  8. Sep 18-20 > Rabaul Frangipani Festival (Rabaul, East New Britain Province)
  9. Sep 19-20 > Goroka Show (Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province)
  10. Sep 23-24 > Kalam Festival (Madang, Madang Province)
  11. Sep** > Hiri Moale Festival (Central Province)
  12. Sep 24-26 > Kutube Kundu & Digaso Festival (Kutubu, Southern Highlands Province)
  13. Sep** > Huhu War Canoe Festival (Alotau, Milne Bay Province)
  14. Oct 31-Nov 1 > Morobe Agricultural Show (Lae, Morobe Province)
  15. Nov 6-8 > National Kenu & Kundu Festival (Alotau, Milne Bay Province)
  16. Nov 14-15 > Tufi Tapa & Tattoo Festival (Tufi, Oro Province)
  17. Nov 18-20 > Karimui Show (Simbu, Chimbu Province)

Thanks Austine and yes preservation of our culture and traditions are very important to us…including our 800+ languages! :blush: I hope to apply this year for the Google Connect Live Convention! I would love to share my country with the rest of the world :blush:
