Back when we didn’t have Google Maps, we used to rely on asking directions from locals. Usually, we would ask local public transport drivers because they are more familiar with the place. Sometimes, you may still be lost especially if you were given too much details. Today, you can ask directions through your phone or tablet.
What I love about Google maps is that you can suggest edits if the place does not exist or if the information is incorrect. I like submitting edits. I feel like I am contributing to building awareness. One time, I was looking for a bank branch and atm. I found that 2 locations are not actually existing anymore. I felt tired after my failed attempt to locate that bank branch. I felt like it is my responsibility to tell others so they can avoid unnecessary failed efforts just like I did.
I started using google maps few years ago when i drove around the city and out of town using our family car. I never thought that exploring with 2 wheels would double the fun and excitement. We reached farther distance at less cost and pollution. I tagged my nephew along on this travel. I also taught him on how to use and explore the maps. I do this once in a while so he can appreciate real life adventures.
