2 Months of TRAC-72k Approved Roads.

This is big news really !!! Its exactly 2 months ago today we embarked on our TRAC 2024 season. Now Imagine where we are today. The end is in sight really. Although we still have a few thousands to go,yet with this energy and vigour and these noble dedicated loyal hardworking road passionate team of local guides we are bound to achieve **Our 100k target for the 2024 season **very soon.

I think it’s fair to say that approvals have improved and updates on our profiles are going great at the moment. Many thanks to the Googlers behind the scenes of road on Google maps.

There is a fierce and enjoyable healthy competition amongst us though but it’s not rivalry. The communication is very cordial and inspiring. Nevertheless there is still room for more local guides to participate and join us. It’s could be over in a shout and you’ll be sorry you lost the chance to be part of this prestigious local guides who are paving the way into the nations. It’s very well worthwhile and you have no idea how many lives can be saved but just one road to the nearest hospital in time of emergency.

These are all the active participants on our highly respected team thank you each one of you for supporting this initiative and for helping to improve Google maps. Keep up the good work too.

We still have a bit to go though. Please don’t relent yet. The end is in sight anyway…

How can I join TRAC ???

  • Kindly fill out this :point_right:t3: Form
  • We also kindly request for a screenshot of your profile photo showing the number of roads you have before participating in TRAC
  • Username on connect to be able to access the Google maps profile and to follow your progress as we go along and perhaps tag you on our posts on connect as well.
  • Geographical location
  • There is a link to our telegram group on the form. Feel free to join or not. It’s optional. Nevertheless it’s very interesting interacting closely outside connect.
  • Meet-up and group discussions are a possibility for instructions and motivations
  • We will plan to publish top 10 highest contributors at the end of the event in September all being well.

Please Note: This is not a competition it’s a simple campaign. It is aimed at creating awareness on drawing roads. It’s also aimed at improving the maps network worldwide. There are no gift or medals at the end of the campaign.it’s a voluntary activity like all local guides activities.

Disclaimer This campaign or post about adding roads, is unofficial and it’s my personal initiative to help improve the maps. Note that any information collected will not be used for any other official purpose outside connect forum.

Look forward to active participation and interactions over this. All questions are highly welcome and we are open to improving and editing this campaign for good

Sorry I’m only now reading this @SholaIB

Today’s total road count is 95,997 so I guess we’re very near our target now.

Congrats to @Lukas_1 @ErmesT @user_not_found who together have contributed more than half of the total

Thank you @tony_b .

However the counter is not reflecting the actual situation, not because it is not accurate, but simply because not all users are constantly updating their data in there. My estimation is that the real number is 1.5 to 2K higher, and with the next update we may be able to reach the goal.

I join you in the congratulations to @Lukas_1 , @MarcoDavoli , and of course @SholaIB .

But I would like to add also @JustJake and @PrasadVR for the incredible performance. I’m really impressed by their contributions. 10k in three months is not a piece of cake.

Bravo everyone

Thank you @PrasadVR

@tony_b sorry you missed seeing this,my bad. It’s an old post now. I seem to dislike tagging local guides on posts somehow. Interesting post would not be missed. So seeing a post and commenting should be a matter of interest.

@ErmesT yes what you said is very true. Stay tunned anyway we have great news for you and others later today. I must say I appreciate you and all others who have supported this initiative and made adding roads popular.

Congratulations to us all.

You are correct @ErmesT

The three I mentioned totalled more than 50% of all that was done, but there are a few other big ones as well. Indeed, anyone over 1000 is worthy of note. Congratulations everyone.

Ciao @tony_b ,

I’m sad reading this … seems I made a mistake. Knowing this I do need to fix.

Please help me to find where I was wrong.

These were / are the steps I follow tho create our charts:

  • I have a database with all the 54 user ID of Gmaps. We were 54 at the beginning but 18 drop after few weeks.
  • I was / am (I’ll keep doing it till 23 of September ) checking every single account every two days or every time there was an update.
  • I copy one by one each single value under “Roads added” of all the 54 users. Unfortunately @ErmesT figures are not sent or update by the users on a regular base. :pensive:
  • All figures are into an excel file (you all can see it. Is in the folder I shared) and then used to create our charts
  • As you see the file start with the value registered on the 23rd of March
  • We, me and @SholaIB during the beginning of TRAC 2023, agreed that due small discrepancy originated by the time zone (we have discussed this; east area was updated 2h before Europe) ROME will be chosen as time zone. Only because there was me doing all this work

So, if you have time, please check the official database (is in the excel file) and tell me where I was wrong … 95.997 vs 100.675is a huge difference.

Can I see the database you used?

Thanks for the help

Regards

Marco

I think there is no problem at all, @MarcoDavoli . As we said to @tony_b , not all the Roaders are constantly updating the database made by @Rednewt74 (e.g. you and Lukas didn’t added your data this week), and this is the reason of the discrepancy.

Like already mentioned previously, your data are indeed correct, so there is nothing to fix.

Let me spend a few words for a personal congratulation, Marco. I’m very impressed about your contributions, and happy that 1 third of the roads added in this TRAC are were created by two Italians :it: . Well done

Please don’t misunderstand me @MarcoDavoli . I wasn’t trying to point out any error on your part. I’m accepting your number as correct. The method you explained looks good to me.

It’s just that I’d been following the spreadsheet by @Rednewt74 all along, and would love to see it complete and showing the 100,000 figure as well. That’s entirely the fault of those who didn’t update, not your fault.
