Hey Shezark

Sightseeing.

The classics: go around the city center (first district) by foot; and have a tour around the perimeter of the city center called the “ring” where some of the main famous buildings are located: Opera, Hofburg, Parliment, Rathaus,… of course you can’t miss the castle of Schönbrunn as well.

The less classic and ok for this season (at least for me): a walk along the vienna Canal (a lot of street art), or even better try to rent one of the motorized scooters that you can find all around the city (you just need a smartphone, the app and a credit card) and have fun along the Vienna Canal, here there are also some bars where you can stop and have a Spritzer as a proper viennese. You can also do the same alongside the Danube (just go to Donau Insel U1): this area is a bit more wild, you won’t find many open places in this time of the year in this area.

Eating:

you can’t miss:

  • the wurstelstands (try the Käsekrainer, the Bratwurst or the Leberkäse),

  • any pastry shop (e.g. Demel or Gerstner), where besides the overly famous Sacher you can also try other fantastic cakes as the Cleopatratorte, the Estherhazy torte, …

  • Traditional viennese cusine which features a lot of meat, a lot of knoedels, potatoes and cabbage (e.g. check out Augustiner Keller)
