Hi guys!
Back again! but this time to talk about a specific place in Cusco-Perú. Cusco is well-known worldwide because of Machupicchu (one of 7 world´s wonders) but there is a lot more to see when you visit this fantastic region.
Today I will talk about Sacsayhuaman.
Sacsayhuaman is a citadel on the northern outskirts of the city of Cusco, Peru, the historic capital of the Inca Empire. Sections were first built by the Killke culture about 1100; they had occupied the area since 900. The complex was expanded and added to by the Inca from the 13th century; they built dry stone walls constructed of huge stones. The workers carefully cut the boulders to fit them together tightly without mortar. The site is at an altitude of 3,701 m (12,142 ft).
In 1983, Cusco and Sacsayhuamán together were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List for recognition and protection.
Hot to get there:
First, you need to flight to Lima, capital of Perú and then take a connecting flight to Cusco. Once you get there you need to buy "boleto turistico" or “the touristic ticket” which allows you to visit Sacsayhuaman and 12 other attractions within Cusco. For that, you pay around 40 dollars, 25 dollars if you are a student. To get to Sacsayhuaman there are many ways but the simplest one is to take a taxi cab (don´t worry, in Peru taxi is super cheap) and for 3 or 4 dollars they can take you there (20 minutes by car).
Have a great day!
Marco
