On 17 August, 1945, Indonesia achieved something that activists had been working toward for nearly two centuries: independence. This year marks Indonesia’s 72nd Independence Day, and people all around the country will be celebrating independence in different ways.

Local Guides in Indonesia, we would love to see how you’ll be commemorating the occasion. What are the things you love about Indonesia? What are the foods, places, and people that define the country today? What does freedom mean to you?
