14 Best Free Places to visit in Kuala Lumpur Shared List

  1. Jalan Alor Night Food Street and Bukit Bintang (https://g.page/jalan-alor-night-food-court?share) (Photo above)

If there was 1 place to come for local and regional street food in Kuala Lumpur, this would be it. Jalan Alor is located at the very crowded and bustling Bukit Bintang (Starhill) area, where many of the premier shopping belt and hotels are. So, one can expect lots of tourists and even locals frequenting here. It is busy in the day time, but not until the early evening when the real activity actually starts. Stalls and shops start setting up tables along the road side and the entire area becomes like a dining zone.

  1. National Art Gallery (https://goo.gl/maps/9dRoTRieFYsu6aRp8)

The National Art Gallery is the place for art enthusiasts and hosts many exihibits, arts and sculptures. Even the very unique looking building would be an interesting sight. It’s located at the Titiwangsa area, very near to Chow Kit. So after visiting the Art Gallery, one can also visit the Titiwangsa Lake, as well as have a great meal and do shopping at the Chow Kit area. Walkable distance from the Titiwangsa LRT metro station.

This place would be a future meet-up destination for our Local Guides community in the near future.

  1. Dataran Merdeka (https://g.page/dataran-merdeka-kuala-lumpur?share) (Photo above)

Dataran Merdeka is the National Square in Kuala Lumpur, and it can be considered the original center of Kuala Lumpur. There is a huge field, which used to be the British cricket field during the British occupation, and is surrounded by many historical buildings, museums and more. It’s one of the best places to come visit, especially towards the evening time. Many locals hangout here in the evenings as well and it’s one of the most photograph places in town.

Some of the key attractions (some may require tickets to be purchased) around the area include
Sultan Abdul Samad Building
Masjid Jamek Lookout point
Masjid Jamek Pedestrian Bridge
KL City Gallery
National Textile Museum
St Mary’s Anglican Cathedral
Victoria Fountain
and more
