My Introduction to Google Maps:
It was 2016 when I went to SM Hall, Dhaka University to meet my younger brother. He was in the Hall Canteen at that moment, but i did not know the location and could not get there. I searched for it through Google Maps and found the instant solution. It showed me the exact location and the direction to get there.I did not even know how to rate or or review the Google Maps. I was grateful to the app and the team working on it. From then, I used to search for my desired locations on Google Maps and found solutions instantly.
**How I Became Part of Local Guides Community:**Early in this year, I read a news story about 100th Meet-up of Bangladesh Local Guides in Chittagong. I tried to know more about the community as I was eager to know about the great people contributing to the Google Maps. I searched for the community in the trending social media Facebook and found the Facebook group of the community. I sent a request to join the group and they accepted me.
How I Came to Know about the Meet-up:
I used to follow the Facebook group of Bangladesh Local Guides and their activities they share in the group. I was eagerly waiting for meeting up the Local Guides community. I found the announcement of Connect Live '19 Experience Sharing Meet-up. Without any Hesitation I made up my mind to participate to the meet-up. This was 123rd Meet-up of Bangladesh Local Guides.
Local Guides hold the National Flag of Bangladesh.
My First ever Meet-up at a Glance :
My journey started early in the morning from Rajshahi by Silk City Express train. The train was scheduled to leave at 07:40 in the morning but left a little late. I was afraid of missing some part of the Meet-up session. At last I arrived the venue United International University auditorium. The hosts welcomed me with a bunch of gifts including the t-shirt, a beautiful pen, and some stickers etc.
186 Local Guides around the country joined the meet-up. The convener of the meet-up @SShuvo welcomed the Local Guide family. @LyricMitra delivered her speeches on behalf of the female Local Guides. Local Guides connect moderator from Bangladesh @SumaiyaZafrin shared her experiences of becoming a Local Guide and Connect moderator. @MahabubMunna shared his experiences of Google Connect Live 2019. The entire program was anchored by @RafsanRana .
One of the most important parts was the photo session and fun with the drone. Thanks to #TeamNisorgo for bringing this amazing device and taking some special photos and videos of special moments of the Local Guides. The last part of the session was the digital raffle draw and prize giving ceremony among the winners.
The program ended up, but the moments of fun and happiness, the bond of love and friendship will last forever!
