10 tips to travel more responsibly!

Visiting a Community Based Tourism (CBT) initiative named Kompong Cham (Cambodia, 2016)

Who doesn’t want to travel and explore the world? We certainly all are eager to take our things, buy a plane ticket and go explore this beautiful planet of ours! But although travelling is getting more and more popular, the impact of tourism on local communities and the environment can be severely damageable.

So what can we do to travel more responsibly?

I’ve worked for an NGO in 2018 to create a short video that would present 10 easy tips that any traveller should considerate before, during and after his or her journey. The goal of this video is to educate travellers on actions that can be taken to encourage sustainability in the countries and regions they decide to visit. In this short 2 minutes animated presentation, we focused on:

  • Better preparing your trip by knowing the destination (climate, laws, cultural differences, possible dangers, etc.)
  • Encouraging local and formal businesses to encourage the local economy and avoid scamming
  • Being respectful towards the people, the culture, the places, the animals and the environment
  • Continuing to educate future responsible travellers by sharing experiences and tips

Here is the video, that I encourage you to watch and share!

Do you have any other tips or advice you would like to share with this community to promote responsible and sustainable tourism? Please let me know in the comments! :grinning:
