With 2019 coming to an end, we wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for the incredible meet-up recaps you shared this year. There were so many amazing recaps in 2019, and we’re thrilled to share some of these outstanding recaps with you. From international meet-ups to knowledge sharing sessions, below are ten of the best meet-up ideas and initiatives that Local Guides hosted in their community.
4th Knowledge Sharing meet-up in Pakistan
At the beginning of the year, @KashifMisidia hosted his fourth Knowledge Sharing meet-up. He introduced important initiatives championed by Local Guides worldwide, and talked about Google Maps and Local Guides Connect.
100th anniversary meet-up in Bangladesh
Bangladesh Local Guides found an awesome way to celebrate International Women’s Day in March by hosting their 100th meet-up in Dhaka. More than 120 Local Guides from different parts of Bangladesh attended. If you’ve missed this event, take a look at @SaifIS 's recap.
International food crawl in the UK
We couldn’t miss the food crawl that @AdrianLunsong hosted in Manchester, UK, this March. The Manchester Local Guides had fun trying different dishes from Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan at Tampopo.
Local Guide @HimanshiS hosted an interesting meet-up in Tokyo this March. Local Guides from different countries added the English names of local businesses and attractions to make it easier for non-Japanese speakers to find places in the area.
2nd European meet-up in Belgium
This June, @JanVanHaver hosted the second European meet-up in Belgium. Fifteen Local Guides from eight different countries got together and spent three days exploring Gent and having fun.
Accessibility and 36 Walk in Ukraine
In June, @uavalentine hosted a great meet-up in Kyiv. Ukranian Local Guides updated accessibility information on Google Maps and took plenty of helpful and beautiful 360 photos.
Accessibility and map editing walk in Argentina
Several Local Guides joined @Jesi this June to make sure that the accessibility features and shops inside the Devoto Shopping Mall in Buenos Aires were well-presented on Google Maps.
Around 85 Local Guides gathered in New Delhi for the Asia One Summit this June. Make sure to check out @ReshamDas ’s recap to learn more about the idea behind this meet-up.
International geo walk in Estonia
One of the amazing meet-ups dedicated to the 3rd anniversary of Local Guides Connect was held in Tallinn this August. @JaneBurunina met with Local Guides from Tallinn, Estonia, and Mykolaiv, Ukraine, to share the beauty of Estonia with the community.
The Batu Local Guides, led by @br14n , had an amazing dinner with a view in Batu this September. They also went for karaoke and had a lot of fun!
